This is for the sportsnkids moderator.
Did you ever receive that explanation on the Grade Based Rule from Ted Cox?
I noticed the thread that the original post was in is gone now.
Thanks

I will post the reply when I hear from him.

Well its been 2 weeks since I posted this question and it was sent to the USSSA office. I'm guessing either Mr. Cox doesnt have time to answer the question. Or he doesnt know the answer to the question. Or he just doesnt want to answer the question. Then there's always the chance that the question got lost in cyber space transit, that does happen too.
SportsNkids moderator,
I would like to thank you for trying to get this question answered though. I do appreciate it very much.

GRADE BASED DIVISION: NEW FOR 2005 IS THE GRADE BASED DIVISION. THESE TEAMS WILL BE CONSIDERED A RESTRICTED TYPE TEAM.
THESE ARE TEAMS THAT COME FROM THE SAME SCHOOL OR THE LEAGUE IS BY SCHOOLS. I get from this that the teams are going to be school teams (summer league) where a player may be a year older or was held back a grade. Generally school teams may start as early as 7th grade but most in the metro area start in the 9th grade. Western Heights starts school ball in the 7th grade. Yukon has a summer league 7th going into 8th grade team.
TEAMS WILL BE ALLOWED TO HAVE OLDER PLAYERS THAT ARE IN THE SAME GRADE AND WOULD BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN HIS OR HER SENIOR YEAR. A PLAYER WILL NEED A BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND A REPORT CARD

Thanks,
Thats the same way I read the rule also. Meaning that in order to play using the Grade Based Rule, that the whole team had to be in the same grade and from the same school. And they could only play in Grade Based Leagues and Tournies.
My fear was I heard some leagues were going to allow the older kids to play in younger age leagues due to this rule. And I didnt think that would be too fair.
Ex: A 15 year old playing in a 13 year old league simply because he was either held back or couldnt pass his classes.
But I can understand the rule if it is held to the way it is spelled out. That all kids on the team must be from the same school and in the same grade.
Thank you for your help
